what does it take to cross the line

one foot moving from the realm of knowable

into that which is unfathomable

did I cross the line

was I pushed

or did the line move

my vision locked so doggedly on the whirlwind

that I missed the ground shift

or is the line an illusion

a staircase looping on itself

with steps leading nowhere

or is it something else entirely

was there never anything knowable

except for the scaffolding created to hold up the myth

a car careens through a bay window

breaking the facade

once more I build reality anew
